Our 2023 Impact

We engaged families directly to better understand what helps them thrive.

Four people in a workshop session, sitting around a table with post-it notes and papers around the table.

We helped existing benefits really reach the people who need them most.

A father with a toddler on his shoulders and a small kid in his arms, smiling at the camera, outside in front of a white picket fence.

We made policy improvements to increase support for families.

We reflected our values in everything we did and how we did it.

Recommendations from our work

Lessons learned from existing paid leave programs about medical certification, and advice about designing that process

Architectural suggestions for the software and data systems supporting the program

How to balance privacy, user burden, and analysis needs when collecting data from members of the public

We will continue to serve as an advisor to Maryland as they build their paid leave program, and have already brought lessons from this work to other states adopting paid leave programs.
